About Counselling. My Garden Room

What is Counselling?

Counselling is talking to someone you feel you can trust, in a safe place where you can begin to understand your worries and make changes when you are ready to do so. I mainly work from home and live in a peaceful, rural location. My fully equipped and heated garden room (opposite) is the ideal place to feel safe and relaxed.

You may want to see a counsellor when you are feeling anxious, depressed, confused and alone or to discuss a range of problems which you feel nobody else understands.

Problems may include:

  • Abuse
  • Addiction to drugs or alcohol
  • Anger
  • Anxiety and stress
  • Bereavement and loss
  • Bullying
  • Depression
  • Divorce and separation
  • Eating Disorders
  • Health problems
  • Panic Disorder and phobias
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Redundancy and problems at work
  • Relationships
  • Self-harm
  • Sexuality and gender

By providing non-judgemental support, counselling will enable you to cope better. I can offer you the time and space to discuss those issues that are troubling you. During your sessions, you will be free to explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of rejection or criticism.

What can you expect from seeing a Counsellor?

  • To be listened to and valued
  • To be treated with respect and not be judged
  • To be encouraged to accept and express your feelings
  • To look at ways to deal with your difficult thoughts and feelings
  • To be able to tell your story and be heard
  • To be creative and have fun!
